Project Manager – Boat Building

We are currently looking for a dedicated project management professional, preferably with engineering experience and knowledge, to help drive commercial outcomes from new boat builds.

Your new company

PFG is located at beautiful Prince of Wales Bay; a fifteen-minute drive from Hobart City centre. We are an award-winning Tasmanian boat building company with a dedicated and highly skilled team. We build next generation seaboats and workboats using engineered polymers and other composite materials from our Tasmanian facility. We distribute globally and service customers who operate in the defence, police and security, emergency services, aquaculture, and various other industry sectors.

Your new role

Working closely with all members of the PFG team you would ideally have a trade background and understand the value of delivery in full, on time and to spec. You love working around boats and can forward plan, schedule and contract manage to drive outcomes on the workshop floor, through our supply chain and into our customers hands.

Key Tasks

  • Develop and communicate comprehensive project plans.
  • Drive commercial outcomes through supply chain development.
  • Contribute to tender responses as a leading member of the bid team.
  • Internalise specification and contract details, manage compliance with scope and related variations commercially.
  • Implement risk management strategies to minimise project risks.

Polymer Fabricator

We are looking for an experienced plastic/polymer welder and fabricator to join PFG’s Victorian team in Morwell. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team with a chance to develop and shape the business as it grows. This is not your average manufacturing job. Working on custom designs for unique projects, no two days are the same.

Your new company

Based in the Latrobe Valley PFG (formally known as Keil Industries) manufacture products for a range of industry, from children’s play equipment, ice baths for sporting clubs, and products for agriculture industry needs. Since 1989 we have grown into a prominent leader in the rotational moulding industry and continue to dominate materials handling in our field thanks to our innovative ideas on pallets, bins, and ancillary products. Our equipment is specially designed to offer economic short production runs and competitive pricing on high volume production. We are continually working in new and innovative projects and so our team is growing.

Your new role

Working as an integral member of the production team, you will provide fabrication and welding expertise relating to all stages of production and a wide variety of products. You will read and interpret technical drawings, accurately measure, cut, and set out jobs, and conduct plastic sheeting fabrication. For the right candidate, on the job training will also be provided. The role includes workshop and some site work, this position is an opportunity for the right person to help grow the business and progress their career aspirations.

What you will need to succeed

As an experienced trade qualified fabricator/welder, you will have:

  • Relevant industry experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Certificates of competency in polymer fabrication will be highly regarded i.e., EF, Butt Welding or Extrusion welding.
  • Current working at heights, confined space (desirable but not essential)
  • Forklift licence – must
  • Drivers licence – must
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to read and interpret plans and drawings.
  • A strong focus on LEAN manufacturing
  • A thorough understanding of production in a manufacturing business
  • Reliability
  • An ability to work in a team.
